Things I've found while packing everything I own into fewer boxes than I expected (to be updated until I force myself to find a place for everything):

Thursday
- the Father's Day card I bought for my Dad. Last year.
- 2 3 shirts I thought were lost forever.
- the source of the creepy ghost music I've been hearing. It was the radio I packed away 6 hours ago.
- an unexpected (and frankly, surprising) distaste for packing. I really thought I would love it.

So yesterday I finally got to declare my Art History major. It made my day. If you recall, I went to declare a minor for the first time about 18 months ago. To refresh your memory, this was the encounter I had with the secretary on that fateful day in April 2004. It turns out now that not only was she a real bitch, but she was also totally wrong. The girl who saw Dr. Zuraw ahead of me was still in ARHI2100 but was nevertheless allowed to be a provisional Art History major. The dumb ho I talked to last April apparently had never heard of such a thing because I was sent away empty-handed. But it's OK now because it all worked out pretty well. One more thing: I don't know what happened to everyone for them to be so terrified of Dr. Zuraw. She was really nice to me.

I'm sick of people I went to high school with staring at me on the street. Yep, that's where you know me from. We went to high school together. I look pretty much exactly the same, so I don't see what your problem is. Also, yes I am walking around campus in the "rain" with an unopened umbrella in my hand. I'm not going to put up an umbrella when it's only misting because that's stupid.

Another thing: I wrote all three photo captions on the front page of The Red & Black today. It was pretty difficult, so be nice about them please.

Final thought for today: I LOVE THE BEACH BOYS. Maybe that should be the final thought for every day because it is so true.

Yeah the Red Sox lost tonight. So what? I'm not expecting another World Series win for 86 years, so I'm feeling pretty OK about it.

So the Red Sox win the Wild Card again. Good. You know what they say about the Wild Card - it's first place for losers. But that only really holds true for the NL. Sucks for you, Astros.

Because you know what they say about the AL Wild Card - it's first place for people who are actually in first place but got screwed out of it thanks to some shady math that only Derek Jeter understands.

Hayley, this one's for you:

20 random things about me, and then 5 people i tag
1. I have a Facebook problem. Like really bad.
2. I can count on one hand the number of times I can remember saying the f-word. You know, that f-word.
3. When I read Matilda for the first time, I tried for days to move things with my mind.
4. I usually get more mad about things that happen to me that aren't my fault than things that are my fault.
5. I like white chocolate best even though I know that, by definition, it's not chocolate.
6. I sometimes pretend not to remember something if I don't know how to pronounce it.
7. My favorite song, Gap commercial-style, is "I Call Your Name" by The Mamas and the Papas.
8. Sometimes I notice that I get in a rut of saying certain words or phrases. One weekend, I said "I mean" at least once per sentence.
9. Right now, I'm obsessed with cherry-flavored things.
10. I really have no idea what happened to my stapler. It's gone forever.
11. I was the first in my class to learn the 9 times table. My explanation was that you just have to multiply by 10 then subtract the number.
12. Whenever I try to describe something in the past, I pretty much always say "When I was 10..." even though I doubt that much happened that year.
13. I don't cry very often, but when I do it's usually somehow related to sports. For example, I cry every time they show that clip of the 1980 USA hockey team beating Russia.
14. I get really tense when there's a butterfly around because they're too erratic.
15. I love getting mail, but I don't think that's very unusual.
16. I have this recurring dream where I swallow gum then I can't breathe.
17. I don't like bugs, not because they can hurt you (because most of them can't) but because of their spindly legs and their weird antennae.
18. If I were to name my favorite TV shows, they would be Alias, House, Lost, and Antiques Roadshow.
19. Pretty much the only meats that I eat are turkey, fish, bacon, and hot dogs.
20. I love Barry Zito, alleged sexual perversions included.

I don't really do tags because I don't have enough LJ friends. If you read this and you haven't done it yet, do it please.

I have an Art History test in 2 hours, but I feel this must be said. Why are tickets to everything so expensive? Two examples:

Ashlee Simpson: $34.50
Drake Bell: $29.00

I don't know if Ashlee Simpson and Drake Bell know who they are, but they are, in fact, Ashlee Simpson and Drake Bell. I am the only person in the world who loves them enough to pay to hear them suck in a concert venue, and even I won't pay that much.

Today a sad thing happened. And that sad thing was this:

From On the DL:
Tinkle Belle
This laid-back surfer sure enjoys his showers---those of the golden variety, that is. A related kink involving urine and a funnel really gets this hurler going, and he also enjoys a finger or two up his---well, you figure it out. Hey, whatever turns you on and helps you find your center...

I'm not saying it is Barry Zito... but yeah, I'm pretty sure it's Barry Zito. And that makes me pretty sad.

Also, I'm not going to be able to go to Tailgate with the Team again this year, so someone else will have to profess my love to Joe Tereshinski. I was thinking that I could just wait until next year, but considering Joe will definitely be the starting QB then, I doubt I'd even be able to get through the crowd of adoring fans.

Gosh, I love football. I especially loved that people in the endzone like to yell as much as I do, so I didn't feel stupid. Yelling at sporting events is the best.

It totally made my day when Joe Tereshinski came in to play QB. Despite loud announcements to the contrary (thanks Katy), I am not in love with him. I just admire his quarterbacking skills, think he's pretty cute, and would maybe marry him but only if he asked me. I also take back anything bad I ever said about DJ Shockley. He is awesome.

I am so glad I'm going home tomorrow. I'm sick of cooking for myself, and I really miss my Squishy Pig.

I'm bored, so I took this quiz. Yeah, I forgot this girl was even on the show but whatever.

Take the quiz: "Which Laguna Beach Character are You?"

Christina
You have strong morals and respect your friends. Singing and Acting are a passion... You are very smart though also.

Turns out I maybe don't suck at bowling anymore. Tonight I got my all-time high score (109), of which I was very proud. Also, it may have been a while since I last played, but DDR is still a lot of fun.

Weekly update: I've been listening to "These Words" by Natasha Bedingfield on a loop pretty much all day. I don't hate my Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes anymore. I single-handedly copyedited the Out & About section of the newspaper this week, and I hope to do it again next week. There is a boy in one of my classes (whom many of us know, so he shall remain nameless) who is so cute that I can barely focus even though I love that class beyond belief. I'm really excited for the football game tomorrow. That's about all I have to say right now.

Well, I've really had no urge to update lately. There's plenty to say, but I just don't feel like it. Right now I really should be doing homework, so now I really want to update. So here it is.

1) I love my job. Like a lot. Besides the part where I actually have to go and then stay for six hours at a time, it's awesome. Plus everyone there is so nice. My name is finally in the list of employees on the Opinions page, so pick up a Monday or Thursday paper and admire my handiwork.

2) I love my Tuesday/Thursday classes. I have English (American Novel to 1900) and Art History (Italian Renaissance). Art History really makes my day, almost to the point where I kind of want to do it forever. Like maybe go to London for graduate school at Christie's or something. On the other hand, I hate my Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes. Psychology and two History classes.

3) Our internet sucks. Just once I would like to check my email without getting disconnected.

4) The new sushi place next to Beechwood is pretty great. It's not too expensive but it has really interesting combinations. I ate the escargot sushi. It looked so nasty that I almost couldn't, but it tasted pretty good. Luckily it didn't still have those eye stalks attached.

5) We don't get Bravo in the apartment, so I have to call my parents so they can tape the Upright Citizens Brigade Asssscat special on September 7th. It's pretty ironic, I think, that it is a pre-taped improv show that I will be re-taping and then watching at a later date.

6) Finally, Katy and I have been discussing types lately. Katy has a pretty obvious type (boyish charm), whereas I apparently don't. My "type" fits only two boys, one of whom already has a girlfriend, and two teachers, both of whom are married. Awesome.

I haven't updated in like three weeks, but nothing much is new. We have an apartment, I went to class, blah, blah. Oh, and I am a copyeditor for the Red & Black. I only work Sundays and Wednesdays, so any grammatical mistakes in any paper other than the Monday or Thursday edition have nothing to do with me. For example, the grammatical atrocity that was Friday's Opinions page - not my fault. The article about Ryan Dunn and Don Vito in Thursday's Out & About section correctly naming their show - all thanks to me. Yeah, I know that's not very interesting. Today for dinner I ate soup. It was pretty good, but there was not very much of it, so I am still hungry. Cooking for yourself sucks.

And I have a new icon. I made it myself.

Today is my last day of work and so far it has been hell. Over the summer, I have been putting together a website for the Global Coke team, which is a pretty good-looking resume item if I do say so myself. The time has come for me to move on, so now I have to explain how to use it to a couple of people who have no tecnological background whatsoever. Awesome. This could take a while.

However, the website developer I have been working with on this website, the one who sounds really cute on the phone, actually turns out to be pretty cute. According to the pictures of him I have seen, he looks kinda like Brandon Flowers. Even better, he sent me an email yesterday out of the blue saying that he would definitely give me a job if I ever wanted to move to Austin. So he pretty much loves me. I think we're going to get married.

My attempts to sound knowledgeable and cool on the phone with the potentially cute software designer in Austin were foiled when... well, basically when I was born. Instead I sounded really stupid and lame. I guess it's a good thing he lives in Austin after all.

My real purpose for posting is this: http://www.lnt.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2017744&cp=1331604.1787241&page=2&doVSearch=no&pageBucket=0&parentPage=family
Katy, what do you think? Of course, I think it's pretty much the coolest thing ever, but I'm still looking at other options. Let me know.

So I had a pretty good weekend. Last night, my sisters and I laid out a hopscotch course, if you will, in our hallway with masking tape. Then we played hopscotch for about an hour. It was a lot of fun, but it did only serve to remind me that I am, in fact, 20 years old. Also I have no balance.

On Saturday night, I watched a French documentary called "Etre et Avoir" which was cute. Also, I watched Best Week Ever which has apparently become The Rob Huebel Show. And that is just fine with me. I might even start watching it for real now. This weekend I also watched a lot of Jackass. I still find it very amusing.

Yesterday, I went to Starbucks with Jordan and Katy to talk about apartment stuff. Also, I finished Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, which was pretty much one of the best books I have ever read. That about wraps it up, I think. I am trying to save money for the next couple of weeks because there are two movies I have to see. First, The Aristocrats, which is going to be offensive and therefore hilarious. Second, Sky High for no reason other than because I want to. And that's about it.

This morning I am very tired indeed, and I have a ton of work to do. Nevertheless, there is something I must say. This is the first line from Mychael Urban's book "Aces: The Last Season on the Mound with the Oakland Big Three" (which, at $16.47, would make an ideal housewarming gift, if you were so inclined):

"Few things in big-league baseball are more beautiful than Oakland A's lefty Barry Zito at the top of his game."

The end.

PS - I was just kidding about the housewarming gift. One day in the not-so-distant future I will purchase said book for myself. And that will be a joyous day.

PPS - This is not kidding: I just turned on my MP3 player to get a song for the current music thing, and the first song was Barry Zito's song "The Boy Next Door." Tell me that is not fate.

I got an email this morning telling me that my Art History class has been changed. It is no longer taught by the cool guy but is now taught by the really boring lady. Awesome. And it's still 3:30-4:45 Tuesday and Thursday, so it will seem ten times as boring. But I have learned to enjoy the small pleasures in life. For example, the A's/Angels game is going to be on ESPN2 tonight. It starts at 10, but I think I can cut back on my sleep for Barry Zito. It seems like there are not a lot of things I would not do for Barry Zito.
